What is the material of TAC lens?

TAC lens is made of cellulose triacetate.

1. TAC (cellulose triacetate film) is an optical film used to manufacture polarizers. It is generally believed that cellulose acetate with an esterification degree of more than 2.7 is tri cellulose acetate (TCA). Some people believe that cellulose triacetate means that the acetic acid content is not less than 59% (ds2.75), but the acetic acid content of most cellulose triacetate is higher than 61% (ds2.85).

2. What is the difference between PC lens and TAC lens? PC polarized lens is revolutionary upgraded based on traditional polarized lens. It overcomes the spherical and astigmatism problems caused by the deformation of the traditional TAC polarized lenses after they are fixed on frames (its optical performance conforms to EN1836 standard class-1). It's not as heavy or fragile as glass polarized lens (its specific gravity is 1.21, about 46% of the weight of glass). The PC polarized lens is made of polymer material with strong impact resistance (its strength is 60 times that of glass polarized lens and 10 times that of resin polarized lens). PC polarized lenses mostly adopt the injection process, combined with precision optical lens mold melt plastic injection molding, which can produce almost all the specifications of traditional lenses. It can be widely used in frame designs such as rim-less, semi-rim frames, etc.

3. The scientific name of PC material is polycarbonate. Its strength is 60 times that of glass lens, 20 times that of TAC lens and 10 times that of resin lens. It is known as the safest material in the world.
